Cristina Scuccia, the Sicilian nun whose performances on The Voice of Italy have made her a household name, has made it to the singing competition's final.

Scuccia beat off competition last night from fellow contestant Dylan Magon Diamante, a 21-year-old rapper and R&B singer, to secure her place in The Voice of Italy final next Thursday.

The 25-year-old nun wowed the crowds with a heartfelt rendition of The Time of My Life, a track made famous by the 1980s film Dirty Dancing.

Programme makers however decided not to recreate the scene, in which the film’s young heroine dances with her soon-to-be-lover, instead having Scuccia flanked by a troupe of energetic dancers.

The Italian nun also joined the other competition hopefuls in a performance with pop star Ricky Martin, following earlier singsongs with international stars including Kylie Minogue.

She now has just a week to prepare for reality TV’s judgement day, when she will go up against three other finalists hoping to win a record contract.
