The accusations relate to two high school students in the town of Saluzzo, although police warned that the number of pupils may be higher, Il Messaggero said on Wednesday.
“The investigation has not finished. We are carefully evaluating the position of other girls...who may have not reported the matter out of fear that they would not be believed, because of the esteem the teacher enjoyed,” the police chief said.
Investigators have seized letters and report cards of the students involved, suggesting that the teacher promised them good grades to exchange for sex.
The teacher was also in possession of pornographic images, including photos of one of the young students, the newspaper said.
