Temperatures are expected to rise again from Friday.

In December, heavy snow in northern Italy left a French showboarder dead after an avalanche hit the resort town of Les Arnauds, close to the French border. Families were also forced from their homes as snow storms. heavy rain and wind swept across the country, causing power cuts.
