Top 10: Italy's tackiest souvenirs

Italy has tried to crack down on the sale of trashy souvenirs, with the city of Pisa imposing hefty fines on shops caught selling underpants with its famous tower resembling a penis, but others have been harder to weed out.

Whether it's Michelangelo's David in all his glory or penis-shaped pasta, a common theme seems to pervade the souvenirs on offer in Italy's tourist traps.

But this seems to delight tourists rather than offend them, the owner of one gift shop owner in Rome tells The Local, adding that he does an "excellent trade" in aprons, underpants and key-rings that feature the mark of masculinity.
