While many foreigners take to Twitter to boast about their Italian life - most delighting in the country’s famed food and wine - some have been using social media as a way to air their frustrations.

Using the hashtags #Italyproblems and #Romeproblems, English speakers have been highlighting the frequent challenges of daily life in Italy. They include the daily battle for fully-functioning internet and electricity in some parts of the country, in addition to some cultural encounters.

One Twitter user found herself struggling to decide whether to kiss people on the cheek who were awkward, for example, while another lamented closures over public holidays.
