The tornado landed just outside the city of Modena on Wednesday afternoon, damaging buildings, cars, and felling trees, Corriere della Sera said.

In the Nonantola area, roofs were ripped off homes and businesses, while Castelfranco Emilia, San Prospero and Carpi were also hit.

Video footage capturing the moment the tornado struck, in addition the damage wreaked, show the tornado travelling towards an office building before the filmmaker runs under their desk.

Bad weather will continue this weekend, with rain and storms forecast across the country from this evening.
