Teacher in Milan arrested over alleged abuse

An art teacher from a school in Milan has been arrested over allegations of sexually abusing pupils under the age of 14.
For the last four years, the 61-year-old, who is married with a son, has allegedly “groped” female students during lessons, the Milan edition of Corriere reported on Friday.
The allegations emerged in a letter written by one of the girls at a theatre workshop, during which pupils were asked to write a letter to a person who made them angry, the newspaper said.
The school’s headmaster informed police, who through wiretaps and interviews identified another four victims.
The headmaster, as well as a former head teacher and two other teachers, are also being probed as police believe they were “conspiratorial” towards the alleged assaults.
The headmaster is also accused of “recklessly leaking” news of the investigation, Luigi Gargiulo, the magistrate who called for the art teacher's arrest, was quoted in Corriere as saying.
Some of the students have needed therapy over the alleged abuse, the newspaper said.
