Who needs a huge marketing budget when you've got celebrities promoting Italy's cultural wonders with selfies? American actor Will Smith has sent Pisa's Leaning Tower viral.

It was the type of image his Fresh Prince of Bel Air character might have taken had selfies been all the rage in the early 1990s.

Like many visitors to Italy, Will Smith was so over overwhelmed with the wonder that is Pisa's Leaning Tower during a holiday in Tuscany last week that he posted a selfie with the monument in the background on Facebook.

The image soon went viral, being shared over 39,000 times and garnering more than three million 'likes'.

He wrote: “Selfie with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I am Anthony Bourdain!!”, referring to the American chef, author and intrepid traveller.

He was also bowled over by Florence, posting a photo saying: "First time in Florence, Italy. WOW!"

Now that the holiday season is well and truly upon us, celebrities are abound in Italy. Have you spotted any or had any selfies taken with them?
