Calls flood in to adopt abandoned baby

A hospital in the Milan area has received a flood of calls from people wishing to adopt a newborn baby boy, who was found abandoned in a city park on Monday.


The baby boy was discovered in a park in Cormano, Milan province, after a passerby heard his cries.

Emergency services were called and took the newborn to Niguarda hospital, Tgcom24 reported.

Medics reported the baby is around a week old and in good health, having been looked after until the moment he was left in the park.

They have named the boy Alberto and said the hospital has received numerous calls from people wishing to adopt the baby, Tgcom24 said.

A decision on who will take custody of the baby will, however, be left to the local youth court. Authorities are also searching for Alberto’s mother, who could face charges for abandoning her baby.
