American child falls from Rome balcony

A six-year-old American child is in a serious condition after falling from the second floor of a building in central Rome last night.
The child fell from the balcony of a holiday apartment in via del Boschetto, where he was staying with his parents in Rome's central neighborhood of Monti, La Repubblica reported.
Luckily, the boy's fall was broken by an ivy plant that was growing over the face of the building.
The child's parents raised the alarm and following the fall and boy was rushed to Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome, where his condition is currently serious but not life-threatening.
It is believed that the child fell while sleepwalking, although police are still investigating the incident.
