The traces of World War Two are everywhere in Italy – even if they're increasingly ignored. Cartoonist Adam Rugnetta takes us on an anti-fascist tour of his adopted city, Milan.

A history teacher as well as an illustrator, Rugnetta has been researching the sites of atrocities committed by the Nazis and their Fascist allies, as well as the locations important to the Resistance fighters who risked their lives to oppose them.

Here he shares his anti-fascist map of Milan – because, as he says, "history is only useful if we remember and think about it".

Adam Rugnetta is a humanities and theory of knowledge teacher. Born in Buffalo, New York, he has lived abroad since 1996. He currently calls Milan his home. Find more of his work on his website, on Twitter and on Instagram.
