Ex-footballer Gazza set for Italian dance-off

Nimble-footed Paul "Gazza" Gascoigne, the British ex-footballer who played for Rome's Lazio, is set to return to Italy to appear in a TV celebrity dance programme, international media reported.
Gascoigne has reportedly clinched a €470,000 deal for his appearance on Dancing with the Stars (Ballando con le Stelle), Huffington Post UK reported. The show will start later this month.
The 46-year-old has decided to leave to UK in a bid to overcome his alcohol addiction, a source said according to the news site.
“He believes the show will give him a focus and help him stay off the booze,” the source said, adding that Gascoigne is “keen to show off his nifty footwork”.
Rome was home for the footballer for three seasons in the early 1990s. Gascoigne returned to Lazio as a guest of honour in November, when the club played against London team Tottenham.
