The men, both from Caserta, north of Naples, were arrested on warrants issued by local prosecutors for the rape which allegedly took place on the night of July 27th.
The 25-year-old American, who has not been named, told police she met the two men in the nightclub while travelling with a girlfriend.
She told police the pair took her to the nightclub's toilets, where she was raped.
After the woman sought medical assistance at the local hospital in Sorrento, police launched an investigation and identified the alleged attackers through video surveillance footage, as one of them had a particular tattoo on his arm.
Police also said one of the suspects had a prior conviction for sexual violence.
The Sorrento attack follows several sexual attacks in the northern seaside town of Rimini.
A 19-year-old German tourist was allegedly raped on a beach in the town on the Adriatic coast last week - the third case of an alleged sexual attack in the town in less than a week.
