My Italian Citizenship was recognized via jus sanguinis, child of an Italian citizen from birth. I collected the documents and applied through the Consulate myself. Total cost approximately $1,500. My wife, was recognized a few years later through our marriage (jure matrimonii). Total cost approximately $1,000. Three tips: Read the instructions on the Italian Consulate website where you reside. Check out the Facebook Group Dual U.S.-Italian Citizenship for do-it-yourself guides. Be patient.
