Buying a house is often the most common route for foreigners choosing to retire in Italy, but renting can be a far better fit for some. Here's how one British retiree left a hefty mortgage behind to rent a rural cottage for €150 a month.

It was stated he spends about €150 on food. This obviously doesn't include about €450 on eating out. However, if he only spent 2 weeks getting to know the place, renting is absolutely the best option, as it allows you to move again without too much cost and hassle should you change your mind.
