Tevere Day, Rome
Starting the week off, is a city-wide event dedicated to Rome’s River Tiber. Though the event name includes the word 'day', it is scheduled to wrap up almost a week later on Sunday, October 13th.
Things to do include tours along the river, checking out art displays and listening to live music performances.

Wednesday
G7 health meeting
A G7 health meeting is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, October 9th, in the Marche city of Ancona and run until Friday, October 11th.
G7 interior ministers are scheduled to discuss response to pandemics, healthy and active aging through prevention and innovation.
Representatives of some non-G7 states have also been invited to attend, along with EU officials and members of the World Health Organisation (WHO), The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), whose headquarters are based in Rome.
Friday
Airline sector strike in Milan, Palermo, Bari and Brindisi
Passengers flying to or from Milan Linate, Palermo Falcone and Borsellino, Bari Palese and Brindisi Casale airports may face disruption on Friday, October 11th, as staff at air traffic control agency Enav and its subsidary, Techno Sky plan to strike from 1pm to 5pm.
Information on detailed on the Italian Civil Aviation Authority’s website outlined flights from 7am to 10am and from 6pm to 9pm must still be carried out.
The site advised passengers to check whether their flights would be in operation with their airlines.
Saturday
24-hour nationwide rail staff strike
Train passengers in Italy may experience disruption on Saturday, October 12th from 9pm as rail staff around Italy plan to strike for 24 hours until Sunday, October 13th.
The walkout may impact both regional and long-distance trains run by state operator Trenitalia, as well as journeys operated by private company Italo.
While rail operators are legally required to guarantee a number of minimum services (servizi minimi) during strikes taking place on weekdays, there’s no such requirement for weekend walkouts.
Autumn cultural heritage days
Hundreds of cultural sites across Italy will open their doors to the public on Saturday, October 12th, and Sunday, October 13th, under the popular Giornate FAI d’Autunno, or ‘FAI Autumn days’ – an event organised by cultural heritage society Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the Italian equivalent of the UK's National Trust).
Many of the participating sites, including villas, castles, churches, abbeys, parks, and theatres, are not usually open to the public or are otherwise difficult to visit.

Sunday
Barcolana Regatta, Trieste
The Barcolana is a historic sailing regatta taking place every year in the Gulf of Trieste on the second Sunday of October. This year it falls on Sunday, October 13th.
It is a Guinness World Record holder as in February 2019 it was named "the largest sailing race" in the world, with 2,689 boats and over 16,000 contestants.
The competition, which unfolds over a 15-mile course, attracts more than 250,000 spectators every year, with most watching the race from the Trieste seafront, known as the Rive.
