G7 development ministers' summit in Pescara
A G7 development ministers' meeting is scheduled to take place in Pescara, in Italy's central Abruzzo region, from Tuesday, October 22nd, to Thursday, October 24th.
The summit will to be chaired by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani.
Discussions will be centred on three priority themes: food security and sustainable agri-food systems, sustainable infrastructure and investment, and global health.

50,000 Italians to test new digital wallet app
A new mobile app aimed at offering Italian citizens a more streamlined way to manage their personal documents and engage with online public services will become available for 50,000 users on Wednesday, October 23rd, as part of ongoing tests.
IT-wallet will store essential documents such as national ID cards, health insurance cards, and driving licences in a single digital space, and will be available to both Ios and Android users, according to reports.
The digital wallet app underwent two trial phases in July and September 2024.
An increasing number of users will gradually be granted access to the app until December 4th, when it is expected to be made available to the whole public.

Rome’s rose garden opens to public
Rome will open its famous rose garden to visitors every day from 8am to 5pm from Thursday, October 24th, to Sunday, November 10th, according to city authorities.
Admission to the Roseto Comunale will be free of charge.
Located on the Aventine hill, overlooking the Circus Maximus, the garden is home to over 1,200 species of rose, some of which blossom in autumn.
The garden was set up on the site of a former Jewish cemetery in 1931 by order of local governor Francesco Boncompagni Ludovisi. To honour the garden’s past, the ensemble of its footpaths was designed as a Menorah candelabra.
New Sorrentino film released in Italy
Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s new film Parthenope will hit Italian cinemas on October 24th after debuting at the Cannes Film Festival in late May.
Sorrentino’s latest endeavour follows the story of a Naples-born woman named Parthenope and stars English actor Gary Oldman in the role of American short story writer and novelist John Cheever.
The film has been described as a love letter to Naples.
Sorrentino has previously directed Oscar-winning La Grande Bellezza and The Young Pope.

EasyJet strike called off
A four-hour walkout involving pilots at budget airline EasyJet was called off by transport union UILTrasporti, according to Italy’s strike guarantor.
The reasons behind the cancellation were not specified.
EasyJet flights to, from and across Italy are expected to go ahead as normal on Sunday, October 27th.
Clocks go back
Clocks will go back by one hour at 3am on Sunday, October 27th, as Italy and all other EU member states switch from daylight savings time to standard time.
This means you'll get an extra hour in bed on Sunday, but the evenings will be much darker after the change.
Digital clocks on computers or phones should update automatically, but get ready to frantically search for the manual to your oven so you can figure out how to change its display on the 27th.
Venice Marathon
The 2024 edition of the Venice Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 27th.
First held in 1986, the maratona starts in Stra and passes through Mestre and the Ponte della Libertà bridge before ending at Riva dei Sette Martiri in Venice.
