People travelling between Italy and the US will have more flight options this year, as several international airlines prepare to launch new direct routes in the coming months.
From Delta and United Airlines to ITA and JetBlue, here's a breakdown of the new flights by carrier.
Delta Air Lines
American carrier Delta Air Lines announced in September it would launch the first-ever direct connection between the US and the Italian island of Sardinia in 2026.
Services between New York JFK and the seaside city of Olbia will run four times a week from May 20th, with flights to Italy on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and return flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Delta said the route would be seasonal, running until October.

Besides the New York-Olbia connection, the airline will also offer four weekly flights between Seattle and Rome Fiumicino from May 6th until late October.
ITA Airways
Italy’s flag carrier ITA Airways will launch the first-ever non-stop connection between Houston, Texas, and Rome Fiumicino this spring.
The new route will begin on May 1st with three weekly flights (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) before increasing to five weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) from June 1st to October 24th.
American Airlines
Following the success of new seasonal flights to Naples and Venice in 2025, American Airlines is set to expand its Italian network again this year.
The carrier has announced it will operate a new year-round daily service between Miami and Milan Malpensa from March 29th, citing the northern Italian city as a “traveler favorite” due to its “fashion, art, and architecture”.
United Airlines
United Airlines will offer four weekly flights between Newark and Bari from May 1st to September 7th.

Flights to Bari will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while Newark-bound services will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines will launch a new seasonal route linking Seattle with Rome Fiumicino on April 28th.
The route was originally meant to be served by four weekly flights, but the carrier announced in November that it had increased flight frequency to daily following “strong guest response”.
JetBlue
Budget airline JetBlue announced last year that it would offer a new non-stop seasonal service between Boston and Milan Malpensa starting on May 11th.
The route will be served by daily flights operated by A321 aircraft.
