Passengers planning to fly or take the train at the end of this week should expect significant disruption as strikes hit both air and rail services.
The strikes were originally scheduled for earlier in February, but a postponement was forced by Transport Minister Matteo Salvini to avoid disrupting the Winter Olympics.
Airline strike - February 26th
Air travel across Italy is expected to be affected on Thursday, with coordinated strikes hitting airlines and airports.
National carrier ITA Airways said it would cancel more than half of its scheduled flights as staff plan to strike for 24 hours from midnight, affecting both domestic and international routes.
easyJet pilots and cabin crew were also set to strike for the full 24 hours.
Vueling flight attendants are scheduled to walk out for four hours from 1pm to 5pm, alongside a similar four-hour strike by some easyJet staff called by union Usb Lavoro Privato.
As with all strikes in Italy, it wasn't announced ahead of time how many staff would actually participate, meaning it's hard to say how disruptive these strikes will be.
Italy's civil aviation authority Enac guarantees some flights will operate during protected time slots from 7am to 10am and from 6pm to 9pm.
ITA Airways confirmed passengers with tickets for February 26th can rebook without penalties or request full refunds for cancelled flights or those delayed by more than five hours. Rebooking must be done by March 8th.
Passengers are advised to check their flight's status with the airline or travel agent before heading to the airport on.

National rail strike - February 28th
Train services around Italy will be disrupted from Friday evening through Saturday due to a 24-hour strike.
Railway staff including train drivers and onboard crew from the Ferrovie dello Stato group will walk out from 9pm on Friday, February 27th until 8.59pm on Saturday, February 28th.
The strike will affect services operated by Trenitalia, Italo and Trenord, and services "may be disrupted, including before and after" the strike period, according to state rail company Rete Ferroviaria Italiana.
Because the strike falls on a weekend, some guaranteed rush-hour services that normally apply on weekdays may not be in place, depending on the provider.
Rail connections to and from airports may experience delays or be replaced with a bus service.
Passengers planning to travel by train on this date are advised to check Trenitalia, Italo or Trenord websites for updated timetables before travelling.
Lists of long-distance and regional train services guaranteed by Trenitalia can be accessed HERE and those guaranteed by Trenord can be found HERE.
Italo has published a list of trains guaranteed to go ahead on Friday and Saturday HERE.
For official strike information see the transport ministry's strike calendar.
