Aside from IMU, beware of TARI (tassa sui rifuiti) aka the trash tax. In theory, your local comune is supposed to send you the TARI bill in the mail. In practice, many do not. But you are still liable. And if you don't pay the TARI tax in a timely manner, you can be subject to sizeable penalties.
